The London eye – There are 25 people per carriage and it takes about 30 minutes to do one rotation. We went up when the sun was setting and it was dark when the ride finished. We got half price tickets :)
Greenwich – We went to have a look at the Royal Observatory and the Prime Meridian which is the meridian (line of longitude) at which the longitude is defined to be 0°. We had another half price ticket for a 90 minute guided walk so thought that would be good to get an overview of the place. Unbeknownst to us, there is a lot more at Greenwich than just a prime meridian… almost 3 hours later when the tour (which didn’t cover anything about the observatory) had finished it was to late to actually get into the observatory as it had closed for the day! The tour was interesting though and we now know Greenwich has more there than just an observatory..
The whole area is part of the National Maritime Museum and Greenwich Park and is going to host the equestrian events during the 2012 Olympic Games.
