The afternoon we arrived we saw how cement is delivered in Gimmelwald (you can not drive here) an old man watching told us it cost 40 Swiss francs per minute.
We also walked up the hill to the next town called Murren – It may have been a better idea to catch the lift then walk down but we thought some exercise would be good.
After the beautiful day at the Jungfraujoch a few days later we thought we would go up the ski lifts to Schilthorn (007 On Her Majesty’s Secret Service filmed here in 1969). There were hardly any clouds until we got to the top. It was a bit disappointing that the mountains were covered in clouds; we should have known better and checked the weather report on the net like we did for Jungfraujoch. We were up there for a while walking around and waiting and finally the wind picked up and we could see some of the view.
On our last day in Switzerland we went down the mountain to stay in Interlaken for a easy get away the next morning. We used our Eurail pass to go on a scenic boat tour of Lake Brienz. The water was a cool milky aqua blue colour and was surrounded by mountains and water falls .
It would have been nice to see more of Switzerland. We’ll have to make a return trip.
