Prague is a beautiful old city. We enjoyed walking through the streets, across the bridges and looking at the old town.
Prague Castle and St Vitus Cathedral (we didn't take these.. some of our Prague pictures are missing...)
The Prague metro has the fastest escalators I have ever seen, which was good as some of them looked about 100m long. You really had to watch your step as you got on and were whisked away then propelled off at the other end. The old ladies with walking frames had it down to a well practised move.
Prague must have a thing for speed - the trains on the Prague Metro accelerated the fastest out of any I have been on yet. If you weren’t ready for it once the doors closed you’d fall over.
Another unique thing about this particular metro was that there was a clock that counted the time since the last train had left so you knew that if it was up to 6 minutes there’d be a train along very soon. I bet QR never gets clocks like these! You can see the ‘count up clock’ at the end of this video in the top left corner.
This Astronomical Clock built in 1410 (yes 1410…) shows about 20 different things, not just the time. You can see a sped up animation of the clock face here. Good luck trying to work out the time we took the picture.
The supermarkets are a bit different to home – you can choose a fish fresh from the tank, pick up a keg of beer for ~$45 and anyone great and small can reach in and touch the bread that is on big tables with no tongs. I could imagine some little ones checking it out when mum is looking the other way!
